CELLULITIS, A FAMILY STORY

From childhood, many events can condition the appearance of cellulite in adulthood. What are they? At what level can we act to prevent in part therisk of cellulite ?

Overweight in childhood may increase the risk of cellulite

Attention, obesity and cellulite are two different things. It should be noted that whenever cellulite , fat cells (or adipocytes) are an area of skin, whereas in cases of obesity, they are located deep and tend to accumulate around organs such as heart, liver or intestines, which can cause serious complications (cardiovascular disease, diabetes?). Thus, we can have some cellulite without being obese or even overweight and vice versa. However, be aware that having been overweight in childhood increases the stock of adipocytes and thus the capacity of the body to store fat. Now it has more fat cells, the greater the risk of cellulite is increased.

The hormonal changes of puberty

Adipocytes responsible for cellulite have the distinction of being highly responsive to hormones. In other words, any hormonal changes triggers the formation of cellulite . If we can do nothing against the hormonal surge of puberty, it can however advise girls to choose a low-dose oral contraceptive. And if we see the appearance of cellulite on the pill, there is nothing to discuss with her gynecologist to change contraception.

Cravings growth

The strong growth spurts during puberty are often responsible for food cravings. The agency needs to be increased during this period of great changes, such cravings are nothing abnormal. However, they can lead to systematically favor very sweet foods. The habit of such high-calorie products (chocolate bars, sugary cereals?), And develop the excess sweetness, and unbalancing the diet may lead to overweight, increasing the stock of adipocytes and increases the risk of cellulite .

Risk behaviors of adolescence

In adolescence, may show the consumption of alcohol and tobacco which are assumed to favor the installation of cellulite . Tobacco, for example, has a negative effect on the venous circulation. Now, as the cellulite is an increase in fat mass, associated with water retention, it is favored by poor blood circulation and thus presumably by smoking.

Sporting habits and physical activity

Lack of physical activity promotes problems of venous insufficiency and therefore the cellulite . Now sporting habits are set in early childhood and continue through adolescence. The more a child is sedentary, the more it will struggle to perform sufficient physical activity in adulthood. It is therefore essential to accustom a child to convince a teenager to pursue a sport regularly and limit passive leisure activities (TV, computers, consoles?). In conclusion, it is in childhood that good hygiene habits of life are taking place, whether it's food, just weight or physical activity. It is then a teenager to be vigilant lorsqu'arrivent major upheavals, both hormonal and social, possibly with the intrusion of alcohol and tobacco.
