CARBOXYTHERAPY THE RESCUE OF THE SAGGING SKIN

The carboxytherapy is a very old technique used to re-oxygenate the damaged tissue (skin ulcer, lower limb arteritis ...). Its indications have now expanded to new issues purely aesthetic: the sagging skin. Update on carboxytherapy and guidance with Dr. Catherine Goursac , aesthetic doctor.

What is carboxytherapy?

Dr. Catherine Goursac: The carboxytherapy is a technique used for years. By 1930, it was proposed cure to address issues of gangrene, arterial and venous disorders. Since then it has grown and now gives very good results against the sagging skin .
Its principle is very simple and based on the injection of CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas, which will improve the microcirculation and skin slackening . The CO2 acts in two ways: it causes a fairly sudden mechanical distension which will act on the sagging skin and significantly improves the oxygenation of cells. Doped well, the cells of the dermis become more efficient (production of collagen, elastic fibers ...).
According to the desired effect, the CO2 can be injected at two different depths in the skin, the dermis, or in the hypodermis to treat cellulite such as the CO2 is going to burst the fat cells.

What are the areas that you treat classically carboxytherapy?

Dr. Catherine Goursac: We use a lot of carboxytherapy to treat inner arms and thighs, but also the neck, chest and above the oval of the face where the result is visible more quickly than other areas. Please note that the skin should not initially be fully released. It must still have some potential to react with CO2 and get a real skin retraction.
In some people, CO2 exerts an effect on the skin but also the underlying muscle. Thus, the dimples are sometimes enhance and reshape lips can. In other words, oxygen can also affect the muscles further.
We also obtained interesting results on the rings in sepia: it not only improves the sagging skin , but also the blood supply, and tends to brighten the complexion.
Stretch marks may be amenable to such treatment, but it's quite long because we can not treat a small area at a time, the size of a hand for example.Attention, even carboxytherapy can not get rid of stretch marks. However, we can significantly reduce their width after a few sessions and get the color of the skin. We obtain the final skin whose appearance is more homogeneous.

What are the cons Warnings carboxytherapy?

Dr. Catherine Goursac: Myocardial infarction, hypertension, phlebitis, recent, epilepsy, pregnancy, skin infections of the areas concerned.

In practice, what happens during a session carboxytherapy and how much does it cost?

Dr. Catherine Goursac: In general, the protocol includes 6 sessions for the sagging skin of the face, 8 to 10 sessions for the inner thighs and arms and stretch marks and 10 to 12 sessions for cellulite when necessary to combine action on the volume and sagging skin. According to the results, it produces one or two sessions per week.
The treatment is somewhat painful because during injections, one senses the gas that diffuses into the skin. There is a sort of swelling that subsides immediately, within minutes. Some people report sensations of small muscles, a little heat, as a sensation of heavy limbs.
You should know that a session carboxytherapy leads a small vasodilation, a small rash in the next hour. Except for the small blue, which disappears rapidly, there are no side effects. CO2 is a gas, it injects no foreign substance. The risk of allergic reaction is zero.
The price is about 100 € and the sitting area is treated by bilateral meeting.
