AND IF IT WAS PANCREATIC CANCER?

The pancreatic cancer is a rare cancer, often diagnosed more than 70 years. The disadvantage is that it is frequently detected late. Update on risk factors for pancreatic cancer and its symptoms .

The pancreas is composed of two parts, the exocrine pancreas that produces enzymes needed for digestion, and endocrine pancreas , which produces hormones such as insulin to regulate blood sugar in the blood.
A tumor can develop in one or the other party, but in 95% of cases, the exocrine pancreas is affected.

What are the risk factors for pancreatic cancer?

Smoking multiplies by 2.7 the risk of being hit by a pancreatic cancer . The risk increases with intensity and duration of smoking, but decreases in smoking cessation.
The other risk factor for pancreatic cancer found is heredity, but genetic predisposition explain only a tiny fraction of these cancers. When multiple cases of pancreatic cancer were diagnosed in the same family, genetic counseling may be given to assess its own risks and to propose a custom monitoring.
Other risk factors for pancreatic cancer is suspected as the consumption of alcohol and a diet rich in animal fats.

What are the symptoms of pancreatic cancer?

The discovery of a pancreatic cancer is often delayed because symptoms are nonspecific warning, may be suggestive of other conditions.
The most obvious sign is jaundice. Also called jaundice, jaundice is characterized by skin that takes a sort of yellowish tint, dark urine and pale stools.
The other signal of pancreatic cancer is abdominal pain that radiates to the back, and resistant to conventional analgesic drugs.

Other disorders can occur, resulting in functional impairment of pancreatic tumor reached by:
- Vomiting
- Case bowel
- Food intolerance
- Chronic diarrhea
- Diabetes or worsening of existing diabetes
- Malaysian and hypoglycemia
- Digestive Ulcers
- Unexplained recurrent phlebitis
- Inflammation of the bile ducts
- Acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas )
- Etc..

Also note that unexplained fatigue, loss of appetite and weight loss are also common signs of most cancers .

Fortunately more and more of pancreatic cancers are discovered incidentally during an abdominal ultrasound for a different cause. So, this diagnosis at a stage earlier often allows a much better prognosis.
