The liposuction is a method of extracting fat using a cannula and a vacuum cleaner. This reduces the volume of fat cells and sculpting body contours. The cannula is a rigid instrument in metal or plastic connected to the vacuum cleaner and comprising one or more holes. According to the treatment area, its diameter is more or less important. The cannula is pushed under the skin in a back and forth and sucks the fat cells thus encountered.
With ultrasonic liposuction
Recently, a more selective technique has been developed, the ultrasonography-liposuction. In association with the mechanical phenomena of liposuction , ultrasonic waves are used to break up fat cells before they aspire. This action is exerted selectively on fat cells as the transmission frequency of the probe does not affect other types of surrounding cells, fibrous, or nerve disease. The liposuction is thus more accurate and efficient. This technique of using ultrasound is however a longer, more expensive, more painful and leaves more scars. However, it causes less bruising, swelling, bleeding and skin looks smoother.
Which method to choose?
In daily practice, some surgeons have adopted this approach completely, while others are not yet fully convinced. What is important is that finally, know-how of the surgeon is more important than technique. One could almost say that regardless of the method if the doctor is experienced.
Which parts of the body accessible to liposuction?
Since the design of cannulas of various sizes, all body parts are accessible at the Liposuction (cheeks, neck, arms, back, armpits, abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, etc.).. But each region responds differently. We can identify locations susceptible to this technique (saddlebags, love handles?), While others are less favorable (inner arms, thighs?).
Who is liposuction?
The liposuction should not be interviewed as a treatment for obesity. We will not go puncturing the fat cells in all parts of the body (thighs, hips, abdomen, arms, neck, back?) And if so, the body would be halved, the loose skin and forming folds and undulations. It would then provide surgery to tighten the skin. However, it is a great help to refine some edges after reaching a moderate weight. Although women constitute the majority made by liposuction , the technique is designed to both men. The ideal candidate for liposuction is, in the words of Dr. Daniel Benatar, a leading cosmetic surgeons, "a woman or a man under 40 years old, healthy, normal weight but with superfluous fat deposits located on a small area covered with a skin toned and elastic.
