You want to get into the gym ? It's a great idea. To help you choose among the different disciplines of fitness (stretching, step, LIA, body sculpt, body combat) , here are some descriptions and key risks. Note that the dangers of fitness are easily minimized by good practice, a good teacher and taking into account your fitness.
Stretching
This method of general relaxation of the body is divided into five basic processes, of which there are many variations: passive lift hand hold (passive tension on the body and maintaining the position), proprioceptive facilitation neumuscular (occurs in both), ballistic and hold (maintaining balance and position), relaxation method (two) and Prolonged stretching (stretching longer come true in two).
Taught poorly or improperly handled, the stretching can be risky: accentuation of spinal deformity, ligamentous distension, sensations of nausea, stretching , muscle discomfort, muscle aches .
LIA Low Impact Aerobic or
The LIA is based on choreographed movements without breaks, style and intensity that can be highly variable depending on the teachers. The pace is guided by the music.
What are the risks? Aches when heated enough, muscle strains, ankle sprains, breathlessness, sore back , stretching.
However, these hazards can be prevented with sufficient heating and choosing a course that matches your current fitness.
The step
This practice is based on more or less complex choreography that run around a step. It is a cardiovascular activity on a sustained pace.
Each course comprises a ten minute warm up and stretching, followed by a dance which lasts about 25 minutes, then a ten minute cool-down to slow down and stretch. Ideally, the teacher proposes a new choreography every session.
What are the risks? Sprained ankle or knee sprains on the calves, heel tendonitis, knee ligament distension.
What precautions? The step is still practiced with good shoes, slip resistant and very absorbing (type of running shoes).
Body-sculpt
This is a technique for building muscle muscles throughout the body. We use weights, elastic bands, weights , weighted bars or sticks.
What are the risks? Asymmetry aesthetics, back problems, tendonitis (including shoulder). As with other practices, these problems can be prevented through quality education and good practice.
Body-battle
This discipline consists in linking movements boxing French , boxing, karate or Thai boxing in music and a fast pace. This practice requires a bit of cardiopulmonary endurance and strength. In other words, there must be a little trained before embarking.
What are the risks? Achilles tendonitis, strains, shortness of breath.
