THINNESS: HOW TO TURN CREAM?

Last year, for the first time, a test of the magazine "60 million consumers" demonstrated the efficacy of slimming creams. This year, the results of a new test just been published. What to think?How to interpret?





For years, the effect of slimming creams was attributed mainly to massage(draining effect) made during the application. But since the first test conducted by the National Institute of consumption in 2004, it is recognized that the composition of their active ingredients also plays a role.

Already highly acclaimed, this trial probably helped propel sales. According to statistics from the Federation of Industries of the fragrance, these products accounted for a turnover of 74.3 million in 2003, against 73 million in 2002, an increase of 10%. But in 2004 this figure had increased by 40%!
Following the first test of 2004, the magazine "60 million consumers had published the list of products tested (1), to which a mark out of ten had been allocated according to efficiency detected (up to 2 cm loss the circumference of a thigh). Very interesting, this list allowed consumers to easily choose the best product for its cost-effectiveness.

Only now, the new test in 2005 led to the publication of a new list of the most effective creams (2). Now this list is radically different. And for good reason, none of the products tested last year was selected for this new test.And besides, some products have certainly gone out of business and were replaced by others. If it seems wise not to repeat the exact same study and not favor certain brands over others, one can still ask questions about the usefulness to consumers.

Cosmetics or drugs?

Such results again raise the issue of regulatory status of these products.Indeed, if they really work on cellulite, is that they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. In this case, they are more cosmetic, whose scope is limited to superficial layers, but drugs.

In any case, do not expect miracles from these creams, but better. A varied and balanced diet and getting regular physical activity are essential.
