The French food presents unique features compared to those of most countries, including our European neighbors. Besides the gastronomic qualities that make it one of the best in the world, our kitchen is distinguished by its variety, its rapid development in recent decades and the willingness of the French to observe a number of eating habits.
Let's start with the latter. Our traditions have some contradictions. The positive aspects are: generally, in France we love the structured meals, which are moments of exchange with family and friends, and last long enough.
It is an advantage, compared to people who have the habit of devouring a sandwich in minutes while continuing to work. To eat properly, it is indeed necessary to take time to have a free mind and be able to diversify its food. The French meal from this point of view, is excellent. Dietitians recommend most of the time a meal just lighter than usual.
But French food also has its drawbacks: we attach too much importance to lunch and the evening meal, at the expense of breakfast. Yet everyone agrees to say that it should be one of the most important meal of the day, like what our neighbors in most Anglo-Saxon countries, where it is plentiful.
In France, the breakfast is too often reduced to a simple cup of coffee.
