COSMETIC SURGERY: PATIENTS ARE NOT THE ONES WE THINK!

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), which includes plastic surgeons and aesthetic U.S. has sought to draw the profile and motivations of his patients. Surprise people seeking cosmetic surgery are not the ones we think!

No, it's not just idle and affluent women over 50 who plan to go under the knife for cosmetic surgeons! These are also the young mother next door, the waiter who serves you your coffee every lunchtime, and even your office mate!

People like you and me

To learn more about its patients, the SSPA has interviewed 644 people planning to undergo plastic surgery within two years. They came from across the U.S. and 85% of them were white and female. Thirty percent reported an average annual income of their household less than $ 30,000, 41% of income between 31,000 and $ 60,000, and 16% an income of 61,000 to 90,000 $. Only 13% received more than $ 90,000 per year. Like their incomes, the age range of fans surgery was varied: 26% were between 18 and 29 years, 38% between 30 and 49 years and 36% 50 years or more. Eighty-one percent had never gone under the knife aesthetic cons operation for at least 19% of respondents.

Not by narcissism

The majority of respondents believed that the use of cosmetic surgery would be accompanied by improvements in the emotional, psychological and social. Even though most of them wanted to beautify their looks, it was not vanity.Indeed, they associated plastic surgery to improve an unsightly or annoying part of their anatomy that made them dissatisfied and unhappy. Asked why they wanted to undergo surgery, 75% said they wanted to improve their physical appearance, be more attractive and healthier. Nearly 70% reported a profit on the emotional and psychological affect happiness, esteem and self confidence. In addition, 45% - more men than women - hoping to withdraw a benefit (to be better accepted and more attractive to others). For more than 85%, the benefits of plastic surgery far outweighed the risks associated with the transaction. They thought they would be reduced to their simplest form they were using a surgeon.
