TAN: NOT LETTING THE JERSEYS TO UVA!

Prevention campaign in full sun, and just after the warning of the Academy of Medicine cons tanning booths, advertisements appear for swimsuits for a tan.

The diversity of products currently available on the market is impressive, both innovations are numerous. Thus, the side of the sun, the range considerably. And for example, while some manufacturers offer a side of T-shirts UV , others are promoting allowing swimwear tan .

While the former may be beneficial in terms of health, protection from the sun and thereby contributing to prevention of skin cancer, the latter represent a real danger. Indeed, they allow a tan, unmarked Jersey is that they filter out UVB rays responsible for sunburn, and are transparent to UVA , known to be involved in tanning. However, the Academy of Medicine was formally in his June 2004 report on the effects of sunlight: UVB is just as dangerous to health than UVA .
Recent work shows that these two types of UV by different mechanisms, can cause cell damage , which are critical in carcinogenesis. Thus, to reduce the aging of the skin and prevent skin cancer, it is essential to protect against both UVB and UVA cons. Thus, the prevention campaigns of melanoma (the most dreaded cancers), recommend against prolonged exposure to the sun (and never between 12 and 16 hours) and use systematic, with renewal every two hours A sunscreen with high index (without using sunscreen to exposed longer under the pretext that one feels well protected!). Also for this reason that scholars advise against tanning booths, which broadcast UVB.
