DRIVING TOO, SUNGLASSES ARE MANDATORY

On the beach, mountains or just in town, wearing sunglasses is recommended to protect against the dangers of sunlight. This instruction applies to drivers, who should enjoy the prospect of holiday to check their eyesight and choose the pair of glasses the most suitable.

Sunglasses: to preserve capital that is exhausted

Just as the sun capital available to our skin, our eyes wear out with age, wear is accentuated by sunlight. Did you know that our resistance to glare decreases with age by about 50% every 12 years? Need to protect his eyes from the sun as a child? And that the maximum natural protection is achieved at the age of 15?
For all these reasons, we must wear sunglasses on sunny days, at any age and whatever the activity. But not just any glasses . Filtering lenses must be adjusted to the intensity of radiation, covering the frame and model certified to European regulations. Beware of glasses that have more gadget because behind tinted plastic, the pupil dilates and allows rays to pass through to the retina. If plastic does not filter the rays, the retina is fully exposed to the adverse effects of the sun . So it's even worse than not to wear glasses at all!

Driving too, it is essential to wear sunglasses to protect his eyes, of course, but also to prevent accidents. Under certain conditions, the brightness and the rays of the sun are real risk factors: glare, reflections, entrances and exits of tunnels, sun glancing at sunrise and sunset sun , etc..
It should also be sure not carry an altered vision. According ASNAV, one third of drivers having one or more vision problems. Or 90% of decisions and actions needed to conduct depend directly on the view. It must therefore be checked regularly and if necessary to correct (myopia, astigmatism, visual field defect?).This could be part of preparations for your vacation, just like buying a good pair of sunglasses ?

Sunglasses: make the right choice

  • Choose the right category. Avoid categories 0 and 1 for priority categories 2 and 3 respectively corresponding to medium and high brightness. The last category 4 corresponds to the exceptional brightness and is fully specified with-cons driving.
  • Opaque Favour frames that block more rays of sun on the sides. Avoid large branches that may interfere with lateral vision, especially if you drive.
  • If you need to take the wheel, also choose a color that does not alter color perception. Avoid blue or pink lenses and in general prefer the shaded gray, while the brown tint that enhances the contrast is best for myopia and hyperopia in the green.
  • Holders of glasses must be equipped with a pair of sunglasses adapted to their sight problem or clip-ons.
  • At all points of view, focus on organic glasses with a polarizing filter (glare, eyestrain, color, contrast).
  • Avoid driving photochromic lenses because the windshield prevents lenses darken.
