When is surgery?
There is no age to operate and many children are benefiting. It usually starts to operate from 7-8 years. However, the decision to intervene must be reasonable and meet a real pain, because it is a real operation is not without risks.
What are the risks?
This procedure can be done either under local anesthesia than under general anesthesia, but in children general anesthesia is often given for practical reasons, sometimes with associated local anesthesia. Indeed, children are often anxious about the surgery and may move during the procedure, which is obviously a problem. A consultation with the anesthesiologist is essential at least 48 hours before the operation (the Act) to assess the health of the child and the risk to general anesthesia. Some complications require a second surgery, urgent or more remote (including keloid scars).
How is the procedure?
The operation is performed through an incision made behind the ear that can abrade and shape the cartilage. Internal points of attachment are established.There are also points on the skin. A pressure dressing is left in the beginning, then replaced by wearing a bandage for about a month with an exemption for sports.
Where have surgery?
It is possible to have surgery at the hospital or clinic. If it is private, you must request an estimate of the exact price of the intervention and hospitalization because of the risks of excess fees that are not always reimbursed by the health funds (the Act) . As for choosing the clinic, it must be oriented more per recommendation (friends, relatives or attending physician) or by word of mouth, by advertisements that do not mean anything.
